Key fobs don't recall Driver Settings

Hello All.

I'm a new Suburban owner. I just picked up my 2005 LT on Saturday. I can honestly say that this is one of the nicest vehicles I've ever been in, much less driven!
I'm also new to Automotiveforums.com. This place looks like a great resource.

Here's my problem:

When I picked up the vehicle, the original remote-keyless-entry fobs where missing so the dealer had to program a couple of new ones for me.

Now that I've had time to play around with the truck, it doesn't appear that the memory seat/pedals/mirror positions are recalled when I unlock the truck with the key fobs. (If I push the memory button on the door, everything adjusts itself as I expect.)

The fobs I have ARE labled #1 and #2.

Is there something else I need to do to turn this feature on? Did they supply the wrong key fobs?

I suspect a trip to the dealer would involve a lot of fooling around and head-scratching before they figure it out. I figure if I try here first I can save myself some time.

It's not a HUGE deal because my Wife doesn't drive the thing, but I still like to make sure that all the features are working.

If anyone can help me out here I'd appreciate it.

What FCC numbers are on your remotes? Some GM remotes are labeled 1 and 2 for a guide only, and do not function with any seat memory.

I don't have Remote #2 handy.

If I understand what you're saying, the Suburban probably has the capability to do it, it's just that the remotes are not correct?

I just checked out the link on the bottom of your post... Problem solved.

I searched by GM part number for the fob I've got in my hand:

They gave me key fobs for a Trailblazer!!!

Now I can go to the dealership armed with knowledge (and part numbers!!!)

Beleive that Chevy did away with the driver 1 or driver 2 position recall from the key fob with the 2004 model year. The last year for the auto position recall was 2003.

Yes and no.

I talked to an "inside source" and found out that this feature was supposedly causing "confusion" amongst the less technical-savy drivers.

"Oh my Gosh! The seat is moving!!!"

GM's response was to turn this feature off. Once again: (Sorry, I'm just digging the cool Smilies on this forum.)

The dealer needs to get on their Technical Assistance Line and get approval to download a modified Cal Set into the vehicle to turn this feature back on.

So now I get to try to talk them into THAT.

Wish me luck. I'll follow up with the final outcome.

The Trailblazers don't use LHJ011 - they use MYT3X6898B.

Well....

The last conversation I had was with my Salesman. That was Friday. He's going to do some "research" on this.

At one point it came out that the cost to do the reprogramming is $90... I didn't volunteer to pay anything. I suspect they are hoping I just let it drop.

To tell you the truth, the more I think about it, the more I might just let it drop. Now that I've been driving it for a while I realize that I _want_ the seat to be in the "Easy Exit" position when I get in as well as when I get out. If the thing adjusts when I hit the Unlock button then it might be a little more difficult to get in. As mentioned, my Wife doesn't drive this thing anyway so it's really not THAT big of a deal.

In the dealer's defense (like any dealer deserves it) there is nothing in the manual that states that the key fobs should recall the memory settings.

So I guess the end result of this is that if you REALLY want it they can turn it on for you. It just isn't important enough to me to go up there making a big fuss (or paying $90!).
