I dont know about "RACE WARS" but we used to have import night at the local drag track here every 3rd fri and sat night. It was kinda cool till it got a little out of control with everybody wanting to put thier parents cars on the track.

But as far as a bunch of ricers metting out in the desert, making large bets, and racing off a flagger with no timing system, I highly doubt it. Most tracks will have an import night, but I think thats about as far as it goes.

I know close to where I live they used to have an old airstrip open every friday night and saturday for street racing. It was somewhat organized and apparently was really popular. I've heard many stories as to why it is no more. Most likely because people took advantage of it. Now its all from lights on route 30... you think someone would catch on adventually and open a place like we had before. Personally I think there would be alot of money to make despite the money needed for insurance and what not. The nearest track is about 2 hours away from me or else I'd be there every weekend.

Speaking of F&F. I was reading this magazine for rich people, Robbs Report Magazine and the guy who was writing the article said and I quote. (Speaking of the GT40) "I was accelerating through the corners, double clutching through the gears. For a moment I felt like I was a Le Mans champion."

All I could think about, was this guy has got to be full of shit.

Edit: Racewars WAS a real event... I can't find any new information on the event, the last thing I can find dates back to '04... but still, it was indeed a real event (not like portrayed in the movie, but I'm not even gonna start dissecting the movie)
