Changing Fuel Filter - 93 Supreme 3.1
93 Cutlass Supreme
3.1L V6 168,000 miles My car died yeterday on the way home from work like it was out of gas (which it wasn't). I'm suspecting the fuel filter, and even if that wasn't the problem, it is probably due for a change. After sitting for a few minutes, it started back up and ran well for most of the drive (25 miles), but did sputter at one point. My question is, will there be a big leakage when removing the old filter, or would that only happen when the fuel pump is running? Also, the check engine light came on after a while, then when out within a minute. It did that a couple of times. I'm going to try and get a code reading this evening. Thanks. |

Re: Changing Fuel Filter - 93 Supreme 3.1
Well i had the same problem. Well i thought me fuel pump was shot but me and my dad thought of the fuel filter. So we quick changed it and everything was ok.
To ur question well there isn't to much of gas that comes out, just have a oil pan to catch some of the gas. Well when u have ur old fuel filter off just turn on ur car but dont start to make sure the gas comes out (when u do this about a cap from a 20 oz of gas will come out. Since the car is fuel injected not very much fuel come out.) but other than that everything is good and just put on the new filter |
