03 Cruiser has no power

Two days ago I got in my 2003 Cruiser and went to work. I stopped at a gas station and filled it up. The automatic shutoff on the gas pump didn't work and gas went everywhere. Then when I got into the car to start it, nothing!!!
No power No Nothing,(dome lights, dash lights, radio etc.) I got Mom to come give me a jump...... hooked everything up like it's supposed to and got lights inside and instrument panel worked, cranked it and it started, when I let off the gas and got out to take the cables off, when I took the cables off, it ran for a minute then died again. Same thing happened 2 or 3 times. So I proceeded to buy a new battery and intall it..... once installed.... opened door and nothing..... nothing at all........ was wondering if there is a switch that needs resetting or something if the fuel system overflows or has some major problem. Any help here would be great since now I have no ride to and from work and live so far out that nobody can stop by and get me.

Thanks in Advance for any information.

Re: 03 Cruiser has no power

This is actually not a reply but more like an update. I got to thinking and I decided I would change the positive cable on the car since it looked like it was a little corroded. As I was taking it off, the post connection came off in my hand. Then I proceded to undo the bolt from the starter, and the nut was loose. Also after removing the cable from the starter I found that the cable where it connects to the starter was almost burnt into. Put the new cable on, hooked everything back up... and poof.... it cranked right up and started. Go figure...........
Anyways, thanx for letting me take up everyone's space on here. I will still be around cause I have a '90 Ford Taurus that ain't running, and also an '88 Ford Ranger that ain't running.

Thanx Again as always
Mikel
