backup lights
Hello, I believe this is the first time I post a thread on this site. I was hoping someone could assist me in fixing this problem. I just bought a 2000 Eclipse GT and I notice that the reverse lights do not turn on when I put the car in reverse. I have checked all of the fuse and all are good and also I have replace the light bulbs and nothing still. HELP!!!!!

Re: backup lights
Sounds like you have a bad reverse light switch in the tranny. Should be able to pick one up cheap at any auto store and it should just thread in and out of place.

Re: backup lights
Well, I don't know where exactly for your car. But on mine, it was on the top half of the tranny near the back. There should be a harness going to it and if you unplug it then the switch should thread out... This is on a manual or automatic? I guess I really should have asked that first. lol

Re: backup lights
This is a manual tranny.

Re: backup lights
Ok, yeah it should be right about where I said then... I'd check it and make sure that harness didn't pop of it. (that happens sometimes) and if its still connected then the switch might need replaced.

Re: backup lights
Is there another switch somewhere else? Some times when I put my car on reverse the lights come on. If I wiggle the shifter some times they come on. I would be great to fix this.

Re: backup lights
Well then you have a loose connection or a bad ground on the switch it sounds like... Give that a check.
