'91 S-10 Headlight problem

I have a good one, I think. I recently noticed that my right headlight would sometimes go dark in the low position. When I went to high beams both lights would work. So I did what I thought was the prudent thing and replaced the right headlight. After replacing the right headlight, I tried the headlights and noticed that the left headlight worked fine, but the right headlight was very dim, and the right direction signal was on as well as the indicator for it on the dashboard. I assumed that the light was bad and I put the old light back in, and it was not working in the low position. When I remove the right light completely, the left headlight only works in the high beam.
Has anybody run into this before?
Thank you.

Sounds like you have a bad ground on the right headlight. Take a jumper wire and supply a ground for it. See if that makes a difference.

Re: '91 S-10 Headlight problem

Thank you for your help.
I fianlly figured out the problem. The headlight socket was virtually destroyed by time and apparently water. I must have been the final straw when I pulled the old light out and put the new one in. I spliced in a new socket and now it works.
Thank you again for your help.
