Question LS with turbo, or LS with LS/VTEC and Turbo

I have a 2000 LS and i'm wondering if i should get LS/VTEC, but i've heard that it's mostly unreliable. And if i do that, i want to get turbo on top of that. Or should i just skip the LS/VTEC and just get turbo? Please help, thanks.

P.S. What's the difference between a supercharger and a turbo, which is better?

I have seen horse power diffrences from an LS-T and a LSVTEC-T the LSVTEC-T put down 40 more hp than just the turbo LS. turbo runs off exhaust gas pressure and a supercharger runs off a belt. turbo has more potential power but a supercharger is more reliable.

Here is a post i posted earlier about difference b/t SC & TC.

That is a great question with many answers. But from what it sounds like you just want to have a fast street car. In my opinion i would go with a sc... ADV:Jackson:no fabrication on your part, powr is always there, sound great, can be a sleeper with it, and alot less matinence;Vortech:has blow off valve, can have inter/after cooler, sounds like a turbo.DisADV:Jackson:run worse in humid heat, only so much boost can be applied (13 or less),you have to replace manifold, and intake temps;vortech:boost raises arithmically ex. 3grand=3psi,8grand 8psi,not sure but i think you have to replace charger and pulley to boost a significant amount more. Another advantage a that got erased for JRSC is hit full boost a low rpm. Turbo's:Adv:create more boost if needed, sound great, intercooler looks good, can ajust boost by push of button (w/ electric boost controller),also there are very many little/big things you can do to create more power;disadv:alot of tuning, alot of matenece, not as much longevity as a supercharger, most turbos (even kits) reguire some fabrication to fit, and there can be many reasons why you lose power. Dont get me wrong though i love turbos. but learn from me do your homework and if at all possible DO NOT buy a used kit. One last thing i dont know how mechanically inclined you are but if you are having someone else put your FI on make SURE they have good experience and see how satisfied there previouse customers are and what problems they have had. Good luck w/ your desision!

who says turbo's arent reliable? If you have a ball-bearing turbo and you change you oil every 2000 miles you'll be just fine, thats what my friend does
