P1870 2000 z71

5.3 with 165k...new tranny about 70k ago...

I get two codes on my scanner...both are P1870 (Manufacturer controlled transmission).

Symptoms are really harsh shifting after hwy driving. I'm assuming this might have something to do with the temperature increasing on the hwy. If I stop the vehicle, turn it off for a minute or so, and start it up again, the harsh shifting is gone.

Anybody had this problem? What was the fix? costs?

This is usaully caused by tcc valve bore wear in the valve body and can be corrected by a modification very common in the trans repair field, should be scanned with a trans function scanner to confirm, but the symptoms match.

Thanks.

I've done some research and what you are saying seems to be spot on. Anybody have an idea of what the repair will cost?

Re: P1870 2000 z71

Just install a TransGo shiftkit and your tranny will shift like new again.

If the transgo kit includes a repair sleeve kit for the tcc bore in the vb, go for it.
