Brake "adjustment" question

To start off please forgive me up front as this questions is gonig to seem broad and generic but I'm trying to interpret what my fiance is telling me. My fiance has a '94 Accord with 4-wheel disc brakes and she said that previously she has had to take her car to a mechanic to "adjust" the brakes which is stumping me. What does "adjust" mean?

I could see if there were drums in the rear that you would have to possible do that but it's 4 wheel disc.

Maybe my fiance was charged a lot of money due to ignorance? Does anyone know what my fiance is talking about?

Re: Brake "adjustment" question

You are correct, there is no adjustment on disc brakes.

Unless they were referring to the emergency brake cable, there is nothing to adjust.
