Timing check??????????

Do I have to plug a vac. line to set or check the timing?
I bought a new timing lite it has a dial for spark advance where do i set this
or do I leave it on 0? I am used to setting by ear!

I really dont know how to use those lights and stuff. The easiest thing I could tell you to do is pull the plastic shroud off the left hand side of the valve cover. This will expose the camshaft pulleys as well as the timing belt. Pull on the timing belt if there is any give then you will need to dig deeper into the problem. If it is tight this may not be your problem. It is easier to pull the shroud off if the motor mount is taken off but not neccessary.

Using a timing light will not work. The only way to change the timing is to move the timing belt on the cams. All you need to do is make sure the crank mark is lined up and use a straight end on the end of the cams to time them. You also need to put the timing belt on in the correct direction, counter-clockwise starting from the exhaust cam, make sure the belt is tight. Once you do this the comuter takes over the timing. You can't change it.
