Re: need help

A good swap would be the same motor that came out of it, because it's the only one that will really fit. If you wanna get into the race scene, become a regular here and read all you can. Also give www.2gnt.com a look, they have an assortment of GREAT info in the tech section. My suggestion is find a used 420a motor, tear it apart, clean it up, and then build the shit out of it. Then you'll need a nice turbo and good fuel setup. That should get you some decent power.

I suggest you get a different car if you are serious about "getting into the race scene". You will end up dumping more money trying to make that thing fast than if you started off with a car less expensive to modify, like a GST/TSI/GSX.

You really need to know what your doing when you plan to go big with the 420a motor. I suppose you could just read on this site as much as possible and if you think your up to the challenge then go for it, but it won't be cheap to build it right.

That's exaclty what it is, but nothing else will fit into that car to make it worthwhile. Your best bet is to either A) Sell it and get a stock turbocharged car like _eclipse_ said, or B) Build up the stock motor and turbo it. Either way, a turbo is the only way you'll get any power out of that motor.

Exactly my point. It takes a lot of money to get that thing making more power than a stock turbo DSM. Even if you buy a turbo kit, you will likely need some professional to install it seeing as you have very little experience under the hood. So it will cost you anywhere from $1,500-3,000 and that only gets to to the stock power level of a 4g63t. Your in for a long road if you stick with that car, that's the only engine you get there is no easy swap.
