Question Throttle Bearings??

I'm overhauling my 1993 4.3 Vortec, VIN W. The manifold is a mess, full of gunk from 240K miles. Before I put it together, I want the manifold cleaned.

The throttle body is integral with the upper manifold - it's the same casting. I had removed all of the sensors and fittings to include the throttle plate and shaft. There are two bearings (I initially thought they were bushings), one on either side of the 'throttle body'.

The machinist said that the bearings would be destroyed by beading or tanking the part. The bearings are staked in place and can be removed and replaced. Does anyone here know where I can find a new set before I take out the old ones?

Re: Throttle Bearings??

now that verges on obsessive compulsive. just clean out the inside the best you can since you'll never see it again and use Eagle One aluminium and mag wheel cleaner to polish up the outside. the stuff works wonders.

Re: Throttle Bearings??

If your throttle shaft bearings are worn, you can replace them, just as you would in the throttle body on a carburetor.

When I first saw the thread title, I thought you might be working on an old 1685 or something with real (roller-type) bearings on the throttle shafts. Guess not.
