Auto Locks

Hi,
I have a quick question. I have a 03 Windstar and it has the auto locks, That I want to Deactivate. The owners manual says to use the keypad (keyless entry) if equipped, or take it to a dealer. I was wondering if anyone has deactivated this feature without having the keypad by using a sequence of turning the key on, then off, hit the lock then unlock button ect.. (I used this for my 01 F-150 and it worked) I really don't want to take it to the dealership. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Adam

Re: Auto Locks

Here how it is done on the expedition. I do not know if it will work on a Windstar....

Start in the truck with all doors closed and the key turned off.

Put the switch in the on position and press the door unlock button 3 times.

Put the switch in the off position and press the door unlock button 3 times.

Put the switch in the on position, you should hear a quick note from your horn.

Press the door unlock button 1 time then press the door lock button 1 time.

You should hear a short note from your horn indicating that the auto-lock system is disabled. If you hear a short note then a longer note from the horn then the auto-lock system has just been enabled.

Turn the switch to the off position. You will hear a short note from the horn to let you know that the system has been changed.

These steps should be done within 30 seconds in order to properly activate or deactivate the feature.

The system will in most cases revert back to the original setting anytime you disconnect the battery. I understand that these directions will work on any late model Ford vehicle but I have only performed it on the Ford trucks.

Re: Auto Locks...*Update*

Thanks for the response... I did try that method and it did not work, So I called Dealerships in my area and they said they had to deactivate the auto locks feature with the computer and they wanted to charge for an hour of labor( they say thats the minumum they have to charge). But I found a dealership and a service writer who Said they would have to deactivated the feature with the computer. He charged me for a half of an hour because he said it would only take a few minutes. It was only 40 bucks, Which I guess is cheaper than buying and installing lock actuators. When they go bad....

Thanks,
Adam
