Cherokee starts but then dies...

I have a 93 cherokee sport with 190,000 miles on it. The other day was really cold and I was driving fine all day, until the car suddenly completey died on me. I was able to start it up the next day and let it run for a little while (it was less cold, too). Then today I got it started and running and two blocks later it died again. Is it the alternator?

Re: Cherokee starts but then dies...

when it died was there anything (turning over or just not starting, very dim or no dash lights or head lights)

If you think its a battery or a charging system problem run and don't walk to your local Advanced Auto, Pep Boys, or AutoZone and they will check those systems for you for free. They will install a new battery if you buy it from them...

Please post back with what the problem was

Have you ever replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor? A bad one could cause the problems you're experiencing. Has it ever cut off before?

On the bell housing at 11 o'clock when viewed from the driver's seat.

Cool Re: Cherokee starts but then dies...

For CPS replacement look at the sticky at the top of this forum....you can also search....it is covered in 'mucho' detail in many instances.
