2001 Sportage Fuel Pump Relay ???
I am working on a 2001 Kia Sportage 4X4 and am having starting problems.
Sometimes the engine starts and sometimes not. When not, the fuse under dash does not show with test lite. When engine does start the fuse does lite. If I cross FP & B+ on diagnostic port the engine always starts and if I turn off the key the engine continues to run with above FP & B+ crossed. My concern is....where does the fuse under dash get its power? Fuel pump relay or crank sensor? some other? Any help is appreciated. |

Quote:
You can swap the relays and see if the MIL is on with the key on, if it is not you have a bad relay. Replaced several of these relays on earlier Sportages. Also use factory relays. Aftermarket relays do not have the circuitry to power the O2 sensors and will turn on the MIL.

Re: 2001 Sportage Fuel Pump Relay ???
Thanks for the info. I switched the two relays and all is working fine. Ordered two new relays anyway just to keep from getting stranded. Thanks again.
