Pretty good weekend

Well this weekend was pretty good, great weather, was in the high 60's to the low 70's this whole weekend and there were clear sky's with no rain. So I washed the Cars on satuarday cause musashi said we might get everyone together to take some pics and videos, which we never did, but at least I got the cars all nice and waxed! I'll put some pics of them since I am taking pics today. Well I didnt want this beautiful weather to go to waste so we I hopped in the 8 with my girl and we went to get some fast food. On my way there I found a TC who for whatever reason swore he could take me. I was like "okay lets go" and I took him by about 5 cars, good warm up and during that little skirmish the car felt very responsive and alot quicker which is most likely due to the cool weather since rotaries love cold air.

Later that night we were leaving my fiances house and we were just talking as i drove whenI ran into an 03-04 mustang gt which was missing his front bumper, I was going about 40 in 3rd and he started going back and forth to get my attention, so I drop it into 2nd and raise my revs up past 5k and nod at the guy, meanwhile im still chatting away with my girl. The guy takes off and so do I we get to 70 ,still chatting, I shift to 3rd and we get close to 90, still chatting, by the time I shifted to 4th I had managed to put about a car between us and it kept growing, I shut down and was still talking with my girl. And at that moment she asked me, "were you even really trying?"
I responded with, "I don't know, I just feel very relaxed" we kept driving to taco bell since we missed dinner and ran into Musashi, I had the car in a lower gear and had my revs up incase someone else wanted a run. Musashi pulled up next to me and lowered the passenger window I yelled out, "someone was following me and I was ready to gun it, didnt know it was you guys" his wife looked at me and said "you didnt hear us behind you ? who else would go that close to you?" I told her i i didnt hear thier car at all and she looked at me like if that hows that possible, but musashi assured her that it is very loud inside my car and I cant hear anything else.

Re: Pretty good weekend

Pretty impressive that your car beat out a '03-'04 Mustang GT. Considering it's got a power advantage on you.

'03-04 Mustang GT 260hp, 302ft-lbs of torque, 3347lbs and can run 14.2 @ 98mph.

'06 Mazda Rx8 232hp, 159ft-lbs of torque, 3045lbs and can run 14.6 @ 96mph.

With you and your girl in the car, that's roughly a 300lb increase in weight (3300lbs), factor in average male (we'll say 180lbs) for the Mustang (3527lbs) and you've got roughly a 227lb difference.

Not to mention the 8, is down a full 143ft-lbs and 28hp from the GT... which traps a full 2mph faster in the quarter mile. Quite impressive indeed that you pulled on him a car length and then some.

I'd like to see track times of your 8, seems to me you're able to pull more out of it than most others can.

^^ I agree that is pretty impressive. Maybe he scares his car into going faster than what it really is. But seriously, with all these races you need to get some footage.

ummmi weigh 115....and my girl is 160 so not completely 300 and my model weighs 2950, the base model weighs 3000 and the other ones are obviously heavier. and it wasnt from a dig cause if it was I probably wouldve lost. especially considering i dont know how to launch it yet.

Re: Pretty good weekend

I think we might be able to trust you more about your kill stories if some of your posts weren't somehow fabricated. I mean you go to a dyno shop, and dyno your car to the tune of 180+whp. You think that number seems low, cause an Civic Si dynoed higher, and ask the guy if it might be off. He says it may be off due to the heat, so you guess your car is making 228whp, which you put in your sig (I suppose I could put 370whp, cause a shop down the street from where I dynoed my car dynoes 20whp higher). You also stated that you would re-dyno your car, which you have not.

Also you didn't post 1/4 mile times, while Mushashi did.

Just makes things seem kinda odd. I mean beating M3's in corners, and LS1's from a roll in a Jetta.

Mind you i'm not trying to make a personal attack on you. I'm just pointing out somethings i've seen you post.

Re: Pretty good weekend

Well to his deffense the Dyno shop he took it to is well known around town for "selling" dyno numbers.
about 4 months ago a fellow gto owner friend of mine went to that same shop (its called Lujan Motorsports) and had his GTO dynoed to 312whp (stock the GTO is 325-331 whp) so being as disapointed as he was he argued with the guy at the shop. The owner responded by telling him " I sell a special chip for that car. I'll sell it to you for 120.00 installed. he agreed and came back a few hours later to which his car now dynoed 340 whp. he was impressed. when we ran it on my HPTunners a few weeks later we found the stock PCM still active. nothing had changed. he simply payed 120 bucks for moddified Dyno numbers. they set thier dyno to + or - numbers to rob your bank.
he hassnt re-dynoed cause he got on the ball about helping me out with a certain debt and he has had alot of issues of his own such as buying new tires and maintenance on both cars. his oil changes run him about 67 bucks a piece for each car and he just cant go and throw 85 dollars away on a re-dyno just yet. hes being responsible to his priorities so just be patient. well both get dyno numbers soon enough.

as for track times. well he did say he wassnt interested in tracking the RX-8 since it wassnt meant to do that. he dossnet care about 1/4 mile times on that car, but if you want times wait till the AutoX starts.

as for his driving prowess....well i wassnt there but trust me when I say he raped the AutoX with his Jetta back when it was still stock. took a trophy in his division on the second run of the season (first time out) so he can drive!

Re: Pretty good weekend

Why doesn't he save a few bucks and do the oil changes himself? Only takes 20 minutes.

he exaggerrated on the oil changes i do them myself, the oil costs me 32 bucks for each car and th filter 10 so its 84 for both cars. And I didnt say I beat and LS1 with the jetta, never ever said that. Why do you find it odd that I beat an M3 of the corner? especially when It get similar autocross and road course times as the rx-8? Im not doing anything fabricated here, i am doing just what the car can do.

And you know why I havent gotten dynoed yet? cause I have 11 bucks in my bank account, so excuse me for not going negative at your own personal interest, but i gotta make 5 of those 11 last a whole week.

Re: Pretty good weekend

No wonder you're so skinny. You got 2 cars to keep up with and you have a limited income. I'm no glutton but I think personal health is probably a little more important than driving fast and beating ricers on the highway. I hope you find a way to make that 5 bucks last you all week... maybe some dehydrated c-rations? GL

Re: Pretty good weekend

See that’s why I’m glad I don’t have a car payment, it Fs you in the A. My friends got one and he’s in the same situation as you some months when "unexpected" expenses occur.

Good kills. I think people just have to get used to the fact that RX8 is a quick/fast car. I always saw them as slow cause of their low tq, but haveing a freaking 9000RPM redline is quite the advantage too.

Re: Pretty good weekend

i agree is 2000LS1Z28 your dyno numbers are a joke gotain.

Secondly i believe the kill, when i had my cavalier i beat or tied many mustang GTs and that car was only rated at around 200HP. A race from a roll is alot different than a stop. You cant mag race a roll race like that unless you have rolling numbers from a magazine. As well as you dont know the condition of the mustang, it was missing its bumper or the other drivers ability for that matter.
