MFH dbr9 help

Hello fellow modellers,
I have been waching from the sidelines for maany months and enjoy the helpful hints as well as the wonderful works in progress. I now have a question in regards to applying the decals for the above car.
Are these decals similar to Studio High Tech? I have applied the inside door decals and noticed the carrier is very visible and doesn't seem to react with solvaset very well.
Any insight before I move on to more decals is greatly appreciated.
Russ

Re: MFH dbr9 help

The MFH decals are regular waterslide decals. You may have a bad copy. Try first with Microsol (a stronger decal setting solution), and if that doesn't work, contact MFH for a sheet replacement.

Hope this info helps!

Try to use almost boiling water to put the decals in. Watch out as they will loosen rather quickly, but the very hot water will make them softer and easier to apply.

After that, you would still need a setting solution.

I also use quite hot water most of the time. But added to the plusses, also note that it also adheres/wrap very well around fingers and the like. You might find yourself caught by surprise at time. Work very carefully as it is really very soft when heated.

Sliding them of the paper straight onto the model helps a lot ...

Re: MFH dbr9 help

Question, are you applying these decals to a flat (matt) black surface? It is nearly impossible to hide the carrier if not applying decals to at least a semi-gloss finish. Kurz

Hello,
Thank-you to all who replied. Since this post I have found out that I may have a defective sheet and am now dealing with a slight delay.
Thanks again for your help.

Applying decals to a flat surface is not a perfect idea. For good adhesion, like you say, the surface should be semi-gloss at least.
When you want to hide the borders of the decal, apply a coat of varnish over them. Doesn't matter if it is gloss, semi gloss or flat varnish. This will make the borders disapear.

Hey, I can manage to get myself into interesting knots! No, what just happened a few times shortly after I started using hotter water, was that the decals were so eager to grip, they even adhered to the finger from above trying to move them into a just slightly better position. I have since changed that methodology...
