If you care about performance and not having some namebrand part on your car, you can take the factory shifter and cut it below the pivot point and weld in a socket or some other round metal rod to lengthen the shifter. Me and a friend did this to his factory del sol shifter and the throw is only about 2 inches between gears...dude it is sweeeet.

If you can change your oil, or put in a intake, or install some speakers. You can put in a short shifter.

They are great to have, and do help out between shifting.

I absolutly LOVE my short shifter!
Well worth the money.

Install is a breeze, i did it by myself in 3 hours. If you have some help it would go alot faster.

you could weld a socket or something in there but once you get in a race and your adrenaline is pumpin you gonna be screwed when it braks of in your hand. short throw shifter is a good idea by the way..but if your bushings are shot your still gonna have alot of extra movement

Lol, Welding short shifters.... Well, just get a B&M Short Shifter, or a Hurst Shifter, made out of STEEL and will NOT break, and not that expensive at all..... Just get the Neuspeed Bushings......

you probably need new bushings if it isn't short enough. if you get it too short than you'll have problems getting in to gear. I just don't like riggin things up. any part you buy already made has probably been tested alittle. if you want to make it shorter than you can get an adjustable one but there can still be problems with it being too short. I got one from autozone for 29 bucks and it works great my integra ran a 12.7 last time I was at the track al;l motor. I put 12.4 in an earlier message put it was a typo and I put it as a new thread anyway. not trying to argue//just voicing my opinion:smoka:
