my mum's giving bullshit that she and my dad might not pay for me to go to the college i want to go to (UTI Orlando) but they can afford a brand new XK convertible.

my sister gets money from them on a silver spoon, but they might not even loan me the money to go to college.

dude thats rediculous haha, if you go to UTI or Wyotech (I almost went to UTI but persued law enforcement instead), you're going to VERY good school, and the one in orlando is one of the best for sure. Don't let anyone get in your way, if you want to go to UTI you're going to UTI. But it would kind of make sense if she was going to a VERY expensive college. Becuase then they would HAVE to give her money because of the payments, but its still bullshit. I got the same thing from my mother, so I just joined the military...free school for me.....and I'm sure you know that some mechanics can make 60k a year...i mean damn...thats sweet cash for two years of school man...

yeah, she's doing 3 years in uni then a masters.

but when i find the college i want to go to, suddenly they can't afford it.

I'm sorry to hear that. But I only understand if they have to pay for it now. But it's rought that they're delaying your dream bro, but now you'll just have to be more independant and apply for financial aid or get any kind of tuition assistance that you can. I know that UTI wants students so they are very willing to help a qualified person get enrolled....

yeah, i'm looking at all possible ways to get there.

at the moment, i'm looking into residency, visas, drivers licence and work permits.

i need to stay there as a resident for 5 years, then i can apply for citizenship. i'm going to the US embassy on monday morning to find out about all this. shit, it's overwhelming.

not yet. don't know if i can get one, i'm not a US citizen (or resident yet) and no bank in the UK would give me money to leave the country.

Wouldn't be the first time that parents paid for education for the child that was doing what the parents wanted, but wouldn't pay for the child that wanted to make their own decision that went counter to the parents' wishes.



If you're going to pay for your children's education, for fucksake pay for it without conditions.

When I was your age, my parents tried for a long time to force me into education and career choices I had no interest in. Now they regret doing so.

Go with your heart. Do what you want to do. It may take a little longer without their help, but it'll be worth it because you'll be happy and successful, instead of wallowing in some job that you don't like.

They're not trying to push me into what they want me to do. maybe they're just disappointed that i have the IQ and grades to do all kinds other crap. it's just that i'm totally passionate about cars, and that's what i want to work with.

there's no way i'm giving up on this, i don't care if i have to work crap jobs for the next 5 years before i can secure a loan to pay for the college, i'm doing it no matter what. i'm going to the US Embassy tomorrow morning to find out about US residency, i'm 18 in 2 months so i want to fill in all the paperwork and if i can't give it in until i'm 18 then i'll get the train there on my birthday and i'll try for approval then. i think i have a decent chance, no criminal record, good grades and all that. an i want to study and work in the US.
