98 S10 Wont Read Codes
Hello, I have a 1998 Chevy S10 with a 4.3. It is running like S*IT. It idles rough and has poor acceleration. It also is now getting about 3 to 4 miles per gallon. The check engine light is on and flashing, took it to auto zone to get the codes read and the truck would not even power up the scanner. (would not read codes)

Re: 98 S10 Wont Read Codes
i wonder if this is a common problem with 98's. when i was shopping for a new truck, i looked at a 98 jimmy and a 98 blazer and both had diagnostic ports that did not work. maybe im wrong
. with the port not working you can't pass emissions.

Re: 98 S10 Wont Read Codes
It's a little late for this but maybe it will help someone else?
If there is no power to the OBD II connector, then it's probably the fuse for the cigerette lighter.I had this problem just recently and the cigerette lighter and the OBD II connector are one the same line.I found this by doing an Alldata search of the wiring schematic. Hope this helps?
