Legal issues - getting into racing

Do those that hire race drivers look at your driving record and base your performance or prospects on it? I'm about to get my driver's license suspended for the first time and I can't do anything because I got the notice too late. I'm going to city hall to talk to them about it Monday but is a bad driving record bad for my racing career?

Well, that's if you do get hired by a pro-team in the first place. But I wouldn't put it past them.

I mean, look at it from their view, would you want to hire a guy who's gotten his regular drivers license suspended. Or has gotten into a bunch of accidents... would you trust him with big bucks race car?

Can you trust he won't get his racing license suspended? Is the driver reliable?

Things to remember.

Re: Legal issues - getting into racing

I'm not a bad driver, just an unlucky one. I got so many parking tickets, because my state sucks but I paid them all. Then the ONE TIME I speed where I really shouldn't, I get caught, that one time. It could have been worse, so I send the nice ticket in on time, but I only find out about what I have to pay 7 days before it's up. I was busy with school but I also misjudged the time I had. I'm going to pay it but even though I'm not driving right now, I REALLY do not want any suspensions on my record.

I already took defensive driving, what else can I do to make my record look better?

Re: Legal issues - getting into racing

They didn't care much that it was late but I got 2 points on my license for 18months, convicted for 3 years. How bad is that? I guess it's good if I don't get into expensive racecars before this is up but just SCCA for a while?

LOL you haven't raced competitively with SCCA yet if you think that doesn't involve "expensive racecars."

Edit: or did you just mean autocross?

Curious,

Jon
