When I start my 97 Ram 1500, engage "Drive", and begin to take off - the truck hesitates really bad. If I give it more gas, it hesitates worse and begins to knock really loudly. This problem only persists about 200 feet, then it goes away. What could be the problem?
Thanks, Brian |

I had the same problem with my 97, but I also had the "check engine" light come on too. After buying an Auto X-Ray diagnostic scanner, I found the O2 sensor #1 (pre-catalytic converter) to be slow in switching. Replaced it and it hasn't happened since.
I hope this helps. |
