Awd Tow Button?????
I bought a 2002 AWD in August of 06. My first AWD, always had rear wheel drives in the past. Can anybody tell me what the "TOW" button does in the shifter lever? I looked in the manual and it only tells me to use it when towing at low speeds. Does this button put my transfer case in low mode or something like that???
Thanks for any help! |

Re: Awd Tow Button?????
When the tow/haul button is pushed in, a light on the dash will come on, (Tow/Haul), the shift points are raised, and the torque converter will not lock up.

never, ever, let the quick lube guys talk you into a tranny flush or a filter and fluid change. take it to a reputable tranny shop and get their opinion. |

Re: Awd Tow Button?????
In addition, line pressure in lower ranges is raised slightly to hold clutches more firmly, and the TCC will eventually lock, but only at ridiculously low load values and higher speeds. You really don't want to operate in that mode if it isn't necessary, since the trans will also run hotter.
The 1986 ECM programming left a lot to be desired in TCC management. They were a lot better just a couple yeas later. |
