Smile What about creature comforts??

Ok, so maybe I'm spoiled.. but if I'm gonna pay over 30k for a car, I want a few extra little ammenities. Don't get me wrong, I'm more about the performance than I am about the little bells and whistles.. but I don't want to pay that much money and get into a car that doesn't have a good "atmosphere" Maybe I'm crazy. I haven't actually gotten to SIT in a Z yet, and I may not get to before I order mine (which absolutely drives me insane but alas, the price I must pay). Anyone who owns one, can you please tell me about what it's like in the cockpit of this car?? I know it has neat little things like the on-board computer (which has data almost identical to that of my old BMW like outside temp, distance to empty... even a stopwatch, how cool is that?!) I know it has the one-touch auto up/down windows with the pinch-proof safety system (which is kinda fun to show all of your friends!) But what else does it have?? What are the cup holders like?? Are you comfy when you drive it? Are there places to rest your arms while you drive (I guess thats more of a question for us automatic pilots out there)? Does it feel too "plastic-y" on the inside? What about the stereo controls? I miss my old Bimmer and the little options it had.. but it was lacking in the power department. I'm hoping that when I dish out the greenbacks for this beauty that I'll be getting a really good mix of performance and creature comforts. OH oh oh, one more question (I swear I'll stop in a minute) someone told me that the new Z's have that feature on the driver's side rear-view mirror that when you put the car into reverse, the mirror moves so that you can see the ground and make sure you don't hit a curb and mess up those purdy tires and wheels... is that true? I just want to get a feel for the inside, b/c thats where I'll be spending most of my time when I get this car....

I'm in the $33k range for a car right now.. I want power and performance, features that spoil me and make me feel at home, a good warranty and service and a car that will outlast me. Does anyone have any suggestions for a car like that that isn't the Z?? I just want to explore my options.. I"m thinking about a Cobra.. or a Mach1 mustang, an Acura 3.2CL type-s, audi TT (kinda weak as far as power goes).. I think you get the idea!

Just a few more questions I swear!! I know most of you will be putting the highest grade gas available into your new Nissans, but what is the minimum requirement?? I'm driving a Honda right now and I'm quite pleased with it being a LEV and it being MANDATORY to use the lowest grade gas.. its easier on my pocketbook. Also a benefit to my Honda is that there is no scheduled maintenance for 100,000 miles.. just regular little tune-ups, check-ups and top-offs. I hit 15,000 miles on my car the other day and the whole 100-point check, rotation of tires, oil change, filter change and wiper blade change (not to mention a fluid top off) cost me only $32 bucks. What kind of service should I be expecting with my new Nissan? I've actually never paid a lick of attention to Nissans until I saw the 350z in my Car and Driver magazine (my second Bible!) so I don't really know their records... do they last a long time? Are they dependable?? I know most of you are very very biased but please don't let me spend mucho denero on a car that won't last at least like 7 years!! This will be the last car I'll be getting for a long time, it'll be my 4th one in the ALMOST 4 years that I've been old enough to drive!!

THANK YOU for reading my endless chatter.. I'm just a gal from Tuscaloosa, Alabama :toothless who loves cars and wants to get the best for her money! I know I could ask the dealer all of the quetions but salesmen aren't at the top of my list at the moment! Thank you in advance to all who haven't fallen asleep and have taken the time to respond to my relentless nagging!!! Love ya! *MUAH!*:hehehe: :cwn27:

As for me. I had my doubts also. Should I be really spending 42k out the door for this car?

But once I sat in it, its like heaven. The seats are nice, the cockpit is sweet, the nav system is dope. Everything I expected and more.

I understand money is very scarce. But this car is so much worth it.

Oh - and why no steering mounted stereo controls?? The very first picture I EVER saw of this car was from the Japan auto-show.. granted the interior was much, much different from what it is now, it still had the wheel-mounted controls! If I miss anything about my honda it's gonna be that!

Thumbs up nissan's

My mom has had a 1991 Nissan Stanza GXE since around '93. The one really strange thing that happened, was when you went above 2500 rpm the car started to jerk, like it would go then be like the engine wasnt engaging, then go then not engage. The thing was that the console was broke, and the onboard computer thought that the car was going waaaay to fast, so the engine basically shuts off so as not to break the thing. But my mom drove that thing around for about 5 months before the dealer ship found out WTF was wrong! WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS. Part of the problem was that it also only happened after it had been driven for a while. like 2+ hours.
But anyway! its been a great car, minimal work, nothing like replacing the engine or anything. damn those japanese know how to make things run well! freakin lazy americans heheheh

If you've put down a deposit, insist that they let you test drive one of the cars they have down there. If not, take the deposit and walk. All the way to Atlanta if you have to. There are at least 5 Nissan dealers there and one of them is bound to have a demo at some point.

not to spoil your anticipation but its never ok to not even sit in the car b4 purchase

good luck

Well here's the deal, my deposit is fully refundable... so on the day that my car is delivered, I get to test drive it.. if I don't like it, I get my deposit back, no questions asked. I'd love to go test drive one somewhere.. but the problem I've run into is first: I'm not good enough at driving a stick to go out and test drive such a nice car without risking messing something up. Second: most of the cars that are on the lot have already been bought, they're simply waiting to be picked up or delivered... I can't drive one that belongs to somebody else. I know that if my car had to sit on the lot (for some god-foresaken reason!) for an extra day, I wouldn't want people to come test drive it. So, I'll get to test drive it and sit in it when I get mine, before I have to sign away my soul... I just wanted to sit in one way before January 28th! I'll keep an eye out at my local dealer (which isn't where I"m buying mine b/c they're jerks here!!) and see if they'll let me sit in it! Thanks for the info though!!
