Service Engine soon light and loss of power

Hi guys I have a 99 intrigue with the 3.5 engine. I just experience this today. I was driving when the car seemed to lose power and then quickly recovered. The service engine soon light then came on. This has happen twice today. I think the rpm's dropped when this happens but i didn't have a chance to get a good look as it happened really quick. Any ideas what this might be?

Hi

stop by an autozone or similar store. They should read the codes for free, then post back here what you found. Better than to speculate.

Re: Service Engine soon light and loss of power

Looks like its the crank shaft position sensor. Can someone tell me what the part number is for this? and how hard is it to change it myself?

Thanks in advance

2000 : OLDSMOBILE : INTRIGUE : 3.5L 214 cubic inch V6 FI (H) : Ignition : Crankshaft Position Sensor

AIRTEX Part # 5S1871 $43.79
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # PC249 $60.99
ACDELCO Part # 213454
SENSOR,CR/SHF POSN {replaces 213-373 #10456594} $62.79

$62.79 is cheap and worth the extra $15

-Notice the new part #

I paid $108 for mine from the dealer (sensor only)
from my CKP box:
acd# 213-454 (different)
gm# 10456594 (same)
The new GM part number is #213454

Re: Service Engine soon light and loss of power

Hey thanks for the info. I can't find the part on gmpartsdirect under that new number 213454 but i do see a part under 10456594 it does say what it is though just says sensor. Do you think they are still using the old number?

Re: Service Engine soon light and loss of power

I would say they are probably using the older part #. Having it shipped to me from GMPD resulted in a final price of $72.47. So you might be better off ordering it from RockAuto, where panzer posted info from. With shipping it might be close to the same price, but at least youll know youre getting the right part for sure.
