lug nuts

the guy that had the my cougar before me put really short lug nuts on the car. my tire iron would slip off of half of them but I was lazy and didn't put new ones on and now Im paying for it. one of the nuts rounded over today and I don't know how to get it off. I thought about a nut splitter but I wont even be able to get it on the nut please help

Re: lug nuts

i've had to to this before, i would take a deep socket (snap-on or other garanteed socket) one that is meteric, for say the lug nut is 3/4 use a 19 or 18. why use a garanteed socket you ask? because knock that socket onto the lug using a hammer, and use a 1/2drive 25 inch breaker bar to break them loose. do not use an impact, becasue you wont feel if you rounding it more. hope that helps.
