1993 2.3L LX Engine Problem

Hello, my friend pointed me in the direction of these forums, and this is my first post...

I'm not really sure what my problem is, but I'll try to describe it to you guys.

When running the engine bounces. It used to be a lot more severe before I added more oil. So the engine was running very low on oil, and I'm not sure if this could have caused some damage. I am using full synthetic oil if that makes a difference.

There is also something that sounds almost like a missfire... There is a steady (in lack of a better word/sound) bum bum bum, and if you look out of the tail pipe you can see puffs of exhaust that kinda match the missing sound of the engine.

There also might be a relation to the engine bouncing and sound, but I'm not sure.

Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Start with the basics. Check fuel, fire, and timing. Check all fluid levels since it was almost out of oil.

Start with those and also check the water in the radiator. Perhaps you could have a warped or cracked head. If there is oil in the water then you would know.
