coil?

Out of nowhere, my '97 S-10 (4.3 v6) started acting like it was going to run out of gas this morning. Got it to a mechanic who only had a short time to look at it. He said it's misfiring on #s 1 & 2. Are these two cylinders on the same coil pack? Any other likely causes?

Re: coil?

97 has no coil packs. uses a traditional coil and distributor system. 1 and 2 are next to each other in the dist. cap. first thing to try is new cap and rotor. when were plugs, and wires done also. any codes??? if it is 1 and 2 missfires it would be 301 and 302. if it is P0300 which is random multiple missfires it could be alot of things. see posts over the last few weeks. if changing plugs use ac delco plats.
