Revell NEW FERRARI (550?)! - Exclusive pics inside - WTF is this?

Hey guys!
I found this on the computer this morning, I thought I 'd share it with you!

I haven't got the exact description of the model, anybody care to say what they think about it, I for one, like it, but is it real?

It looks like a 550 convertible of some sorts, not the 575, nor barchetta...

HMM.. RHD 550 convertible. Looks like some uber-rich Ferrari owner had Revell make him a one off. Looks like some newly tooled wheels too.

Isn't just a stock 550 Barchetta? I don't know why the wheels are different, though.
I was going to convert a Fujimi kit, but I guess I don't have to now.

ADD: You're right, klutz, it's the 550 Cabrio.

Why in the **** are they doing a kit of One Off custom Ferrari instead of the real thing (Barchetta) ??? Maybe their only reference was the website above...

Hmmm, I smell a fake

Seems anyone could work up a model like that from the Fujimi 550 and put a Revell logo next to it as a prop. Since it's not a factory car, especially w/RHD, and the all-gray buildup (more of a Japanese way to show off a prototype) I'd say someone may be pulling our legs. I could be wrong

If it is a model of a one-off car...the real one might not have Ferrari badges and Revell can produce it without having to pay licensing fees too Ferrari (clever, actually).

But then...the Revell logo looks like wrinkled paper, would a company do this? I'd think pulling our legs is not so unlikely.

I'm not too sure of that. Generally copywriting and licensing disclaimers are written to reserve "Ferrari tm, the Ferrari logo, and the distinctive design of Ferrari automobiles". Even without badges, it's obviously a Ferrari, and Ferrari SpA isn't going to allow production of such a kit without licensing.

Judging by how off the front wheels look, I can belive Revell could make and build something like that...
