Unhappy Is this a small or big problem?

Hey guys, I have a problem on my 04 M/T Aveo. It happens this last couple of weeks, when my engine is idle around 750-800RPM (normal condition, no engine check lights, normal temperature, just normal everything), suddenly the engine starts to shake and the RPM drops to around 400 (below idle) and almost goes off. I was kinda freaked out when that happened so I just stepped on the gas to make the RPM rise to 2000 and it didn't happen again. What do you think might cause this problem? Is it serious? Well, it's time to replace my timing belt right now but I haven't got time, do you think this is what's causing it? Or maybe the gasoline tank/filter is dirty? Please give me some clue, cuz I don't want my Aveo to break down, hehe..

Thumbs down Re: Is this a small or big problem?

Yupz, checked those vacum lines, don't seem to see anything wrong there, in fact this last week I only experienced that problem once, not as often as before, but still, it worries me. I already sprayed the intake with those injector cleaner thingy, but I think that didn't give any effect.

Re: Is this a small or big problem?

One thing you can do is go to auto zone or advance auto they can hook the car up to the computer reader. If you had a problem with it, it might have tripped a code. I don't think the timing belt will cause that especially so intermittently like that. It probably is a sensor or something that might be misreading temporary, or even a clogged egr.

Well let me know what you find out, and good luck

Kris

Remove the IAC valve and clean it and the T/B where it goes in.
