Need some fresh stock Turbos

I have a friend that blew both his turbos on his VR-4, and he's willing to trade me the car as is for a 94 bonneville SE. I am looking for a good resource to get some used (but fresh) stock turbos for around $600. Is this reasonable?

Yeah you should be able to find some 9b's to your likings in that price range. Here are some for less than what you are looking to spend:

You can find some good used ones for half of your price, for about $300 or even a little less. If I remember correctly, for $700, Forced Performance will rebuild both of the blown ones so they are just like brand new.

a rebuilt kit for the 9b turbo is $100-$150. 1 kit per turbo. sounds like ur friend doesn't know jack about cars. turbo rebuild is easy. however, you won't know the extent of the damage until you have them pulled. i'd take that trade in a second.

even if you rebuild them yourself, i would still recommend taking them somewhere to get them rebalanced. Turbos spin at nearly 200,000 rpms, so its definitely important that they are balanced.

Re: Need some fresh stock Turbos

very true. forgot about that. and if ur gonna have a shop rebalance them, that same shop could probably rebuild it for a comparable price to the price of the rebuild kit. they could do it all at once. rather than spend all that money to get some 9Bs rebuilt, you could find some good 9Bs on ebay or 3Si for much less. but if you wanna spend a little extra, you could get some 13Gs or 13Ts.

Re: Need some fresh stock Turbos

I have a set of freshly rebuilt 9b's for sale. They're in great condition, no shaft play and doesn't leak/burn any oil. I will give them away for $450 b/o, If you are interested, email me your imformation. The only reason I am selling them is because I upgraded my turbos.
