99 Olds starting probs
I have a 99 Olds with 120k miles. Halfway through the day today it wouldnt start. When I turn the key, it just kept clicking. Hardly any power. Had it jumped, didnt start. Tried again later, it started enough to get back to work. Tried later in the day, nothing. No juice. Not even enough power to use the power door lock mechanism. Used to click when trying to start, now nothing, even when on jumper cables. Is it battery, alternator or starter?

Re: 99 Olds starting probs
replace the battery if it is the original 1999 battery -without killing yourself. Clean off the battery connections if they need it also.
You could also load test the battery. -But since it doesn't seem to accept (little to any) charge and it is now 2007 I would just replace it. Most auto places will load test the old battery for free (if you ask). Harbor Freight has a battery load tester for $15-$30. |

Re: 99 Olds starting probs
Battery it is. Same problem with me, but it was my fault. See i have a 1200 watt amp connected to my battery and didn't realize that it would fry it in a matter of 5 minutes without the car on. Had no juice, just that clicking noise like you said. The battery was good, connection terminals were all good, just had to boost it. In your case it's prob the connection terminals or you need a new battery.
