high idle on a 1987 ranger

i have changed the positionging valve worked for a week then went back to high idle any help please

By the term positioning valve, did you mean the throttle or the idle valves. Why did you change it? Is it because it was idling high? Any Check Engine Light OBD code. Sounds like what ever you did cause the computer module to compensate.
