98 Civic Engine Help
okay long story short i was driving a night bad rain storm didnt see puddle and cold air intake sucked up water! engine is rusted motor is seized. is it possible to rebuild or should i get the same SOHC v-tech motor? And is it possible to put in a b16 series motor without changing the tranny or suspension? thanks!

You won't know until you tear it down.
I did an engine last summer for a girl who did the same thing, got water sucked in the intake. The engine had a bent rod and scoured cylinder wall. I got a remanufactured short block and valve job on the head. Worked out pretty cost effective that way. I couldn't get a core allowance because of the cylinders condition. That was $150.00 lost that I planned on. Sometimes its just better to get a used low milage engine from a junk yard. I have heard horror stories of some of the remanufactured ones but so far I've been lucky. But you may find yours to be rebuildable, you just have to tear it down to know. If you can rebuild yours, you'll be safer and better off. Probably cheaper too

id say look at it and if you could rebuild it with a v-tec head, and while you have it apart you could put high performance pistons, cams and stuff like that.
id honestly buy a cheap used engine while you build this one up as a performance engine (if you like performance) they arent real hard to rebuild im currently rebuilding a d15b6 for school (well im pretty sure the head is a b6 but not positive) but it came out of an old crx were not puttin new gaskets cuz were just trashin it after the rebuild, i really just need the grade for school. but the motor wasnt real hard to clean up, especially after its been sittin on the side of some guys house for 3 years.it had a blown head gasket which tore the insides up,there was corrosion everywere possible. but its still rebuildable, we just dont wanna put much money into it. but thats just how i would do it

Only another D-series engine will bolt up to your transmission, so a B16A won't mate up. Stock suspension would be fine though.
