What exactly would cause the ignition module in a 1986 Ford Ranger pickup to keep going out??

This is on a V6 I suppose. Check the cables to make sure the plug wires go to the right terminal. I have a '99 Ranger 4.0L and my ignition module is set up: From front to back: The right row are for plugs 1,2,3 while the left row is 4,6,5. NOTE: It is NOT 4,5,6.
