Bass dissapearing?????

Hello. I just installed a system on a friends car. He has a stock radio, so I had to use a line output converter. I installed an amp and two subs. His bass hits nice at low volume on his head unit, but when he turns the volume up on his stock head unit the bass dissapears??? Is this because his stock setup protects his speakers from high bass at high volumes? And if he bought a after market head unit would that solve this problem? Or is there bass blockers or something installed? Please help....

Re: Bass dissapearing?????

I do believe that the factory radio EQ's out the low freq the higher you turn it it. IIRC you can fix that by a JL Cleansweep (or similiar item) or just replace the unit.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: Bass dissapearing?????

How high you turning it up? It could be that the car doesn't have enough power to push the subs when they demand high volumes of power.

Re: Bass dissapearing?????

If you look around theres cheaper versions of the Cleansweep, can't think of them off the top of my head though.

The power is not an issue though IMO.
