2001 Intermittent NO power when key turned..

This one is strange. I have a 2001 Silverado Z71 5.3L with 133k miles. Occasionally, about once every couple of weeks, when I go to start my truck, I can turn the key and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happens. No dash lights, no cranking, absolutely nothing. I have noticed too at this point that the automatic door locks no longer work and my radio will reset to 1:00. The worst part is, if I wait say 10 to 15 minutes, I can jump in and I will have power again. The battery is less than two years old, and since this is so erratic, I don't think that is the problem. Any ideas?

I had an 01 Impala that did kind of the same thing. Was your Security light on?


The Impala was BCM I think. Maybe it's just that your ignition switch is bad?

No, I get NOTHING when I turn the key. Absolutely no lights or anything. And like I said, at these times, I can exit the truck and attempt to use my automatic door locks and power to them is gone as well?

When this happens again, try a jump - if it turns over with a jump - check your battery cable connections.

Same thing was happening with my truck.
