Re: Harmonic Balancer
I would definitely go with a new one! You could have the same problem with a JY unit after the short warranty expires! Here is an option on a couple of aftermarket units. Personally, I would get an OEM balancer! May cost a little more up front, but you don’t have to worry about the quality or the fitment and you will only have to do the job once! Here is the install procedure.

Re: Harmonic Balancer
An added note:
Aftermarket Harmonic balancer wheels have given some a severe troubleshooting headache. I dont know how they can rattle unless the bolt is loose. Its keyed I believe and I thought they were basically a solid part. Just soz you know.. Bass

Re: Harmonic Balancer
Andrew, if the Autozone HBs for 3.8 are anything like the ones for 3.3 I would definitely recommend AGAINST an Autozone HB.
Reason is because I had to replace the 3.3 HB 3 times, 2 times of which it was an Autozone HB. They disintegrate too quickly. For us it was just after a year both times, and with a 1 year warranty, that just plain sux. My next HB likely will be OEM even if it is twice the cost of an aftermarket. My $.02 FWIW. |
