2007 Spyder Suggestions and Help needed
Okay I'm deployed to Afghanistan. I want to get some stuff done to my car but I'm flip floppin on some stuff. Does anyone know a good place in Atlanta, Ga that does good body work for when I get back?
![]() Cosmetic: Spoiler - where's a good painted one that I can get that will fit? I hate the little thin one that's stock on the car. New rims - I want some custom biohazard symbol rims but I can't find them anywhere! Does anyone know of a supplier that has biohazard rims? I was also looking at some nice gold rims. Tint - standard black is probably good because I don't think that mirror tint would look good with the Sunset Pearl Mettalic with the Terra Cotta interior I have. What's the "legal" darkest? Speakers - I was thinking another two 10's in the back trunk. One on each side. Will I need another amplifier for this? What's a good one that I can add? DVD player - here's the fun part. This is what I'll need a lot of help with. I wanna get the crappy little display in the car removed and replace it with a dvd screen (maybe with a custom molding) that can accept inputs from the Rockford Fosgate (while still showing the information it normally shows like direction, outside temp, etc) that I've got and display the songs that are being played as well as accept inputs from the steering wheel controls to change the dvd chapters etc. I want to be able to switch from mp3/cd player to dvd (added in the console) and a sensor of the engine (anyone have any suggestions on what is a good sensor that will give good visuals of what's going on in the engine?). ![]() Performance: Turbocharger - I'm looking at a T51R SPL HKS Turbocharger. Will this work? Will it fit inside the space of my engine? Performance camshafts - I'm thinking Brian Crower camshafts. Headers - anyone have any suggestions on some performance headers? Gauges - Defi gauges here would fit my car's interior really well since they're the same blue. Is there a way to put the outputs on the screen? Anything else I need? I'm open for suggestions! Wow, those new Spyders are really sharp looking...
Anyways... The legal tint limit is gonna vary from state to state, so it depends where you live. Check your states revised code on the state website and they can tell you a percentage on there. For the subs, you will need an amp for them. Personally, I woulda went with the Rockford sub setup that comes from the factory in these cars. For only one 10 it pounds pretty good I think. For your DVD screen, this could get complicated. I donno if you can get one or not that will actually read all your other functions besides the input from your headunit. Although I know you can get them to read from a seperate headunit like that. One thing I can't stand is big ugly aluminum spoilers on cars. I have no clue how it ever became a fashion statement. I'm glad you just want something a little bit bigger that can be painted for it... I think a wing like this wouldn't be too bad on it at all. http://www.andysautosport.com/mitsub...r00060900.html I don't think the biohazard rims would look as good as you think they would on this car... Some nice 18" 5 spoke bronze wheels would look great I think. ![]() Now lets talk about the performance a little bit here... You know that if you turbocharge this car that your internals might not handle it so well. Also there is a lot more to it than just throwing a turbo on it. You need to upgrade your fuel system for it as well and have some type of tuning device for it... Really, turbocharging a n/a car just seems to kill its reliability. Which is quite sad considering the amount of power you can get from turbocharging a car...

http://www.andysautosport.com/mitsub...r00060900.html I agree. But flush with the rounded trunk instead of on those mini risers. Now lets talk about the performance a little bit here... You need to change the pistons at lest to get any decent gains on this motor. 500/550cc injectors. And minimal for tuning a greddy E-manage. As for that turbo I HIGHLY doubt itll fit, unless you mount it under the car before the cat. (says turbo can putout 1000ps) If you were to run this turbo yould have to drop 15/20k (the turbo alone is 3k) Fully built race motor, ect. |

650 watts of power but I love bass. Think the rear amplifier can support 2 more tens or would that be taxing? I know there are actually 2 amplifiers built into the system. One in front for the front 4 speakers and one in back for the other 4 and the sub.Quote:

Re: 2007 Spyder Suggestions and Help needed
Well, I doubt the stock amp puts out enough power to throw 2 more subs in there. You will have to add another amp or something for that...
Ok, lets get back to the performance here... Now I know how much you actually know about this so lets get started on the learning process here. lol How turbochargers work Check out that link and read up through the pages on how turbochargers actually work and learn all the components in the entire system. Then you will see how much needs to be invested to actually do this properly. It could be done at a decent price I'm sure, but theres a lot of technical aspects to it. Also, I have no clue how much boost your stock engine internals would take from a setup like this... Just do some reading up on that site first. Its a excellent source for learning the details on lots of stuff.

Re: 2007 Spyder Suggestions and Help needed
There is nothing worse than trying to overpower an amp (its real bad for the amp, and it can damage the speaker). If you want BASS then you will NEED to replace your sub amps, and get rid of that 10 and put in at least a 12" woofer. My audio setup (see my signature for my entire setup) is retarded...my 12" Kicker L7 has a rms power of like 750watts and peak of 1500, and in the massive ported box it is in it hits harder than crap with the 1000 watt rms amp it's powered by. If you try to overpower an amp it will fry, and before it fries it will clip real bad, causing much stress on your speakers. My advice is to upgrade all of your midbass, midrange, and tweeters and run them off of one multi channel amp, and use a seperate mono class D amp for your sub. Get a component front speaker system, and component rear midbass drivers. This will give you the clearest sound possible. Also, use the lowest ohm subwoofer you can handle with your amp (mine is a 2ohm woofer, but my amp can handle a 1ohm...too bad the only woofer kicker makes in 1ohm is the SoloX...but i dont need 5000rms power, or a speaker that weight 150 pounds). Use a decent fahrad capacitor for your woofer, and either get a battery isolator, or upgrade your alternator and battery to handle the extra power load. Try and find a dvd player than has 5 volt pre-outs, and a decent rms watt rating (dont look at peak watts because they are usually useless...unless it's kicker because the under rate the hell out of their products).

Re: 2007 Spyder Suggestions and Help needed
Hmm I can't take out the 10. It's quite literally BUILT into the back seat.
But it's still a good suggestion. I'll have to check out the power ratings on all my speakers and see what my amps can actually support and then go from there. Viral |
