Will it Blow?

I was just woundering about any NOS that would give me a quick spark of power with out any major damage. I have a pretty much stock 96 del sol si. Not shure the motor code. Who has a nice setup for not to much money. I just want something to playwith doesn't have to do crazy things. Any information would help thanx

I hear the rule that your engine can handle a shot of nos equal to 40% of your current engine horsepower. Zex makes a pretty cheap kit.

If I were you I wouldn't get NOS unless you're prepared for the possible consequences. This kid I know put a 65 shot on a relatively stock civic Hatchback. The first time he sprayed he melted his spark plugs, The second time (2 days ago) he threw a piston through the block. I don't know how it happened but I just saw the aftermath, which may I add was quite comical

Nitrous is safe. It all comes down to tuning. As long as you have a proper fuel setup you can easily run a 75 shot with ease, as long as your motor is already in good running condition. People that fry their motors are the people that don't take all the steps, that goes with any form of forced induction that you do. Talking to a local shop that has done setups before is always the safest thing to do.

How long does it take for a nitrous install? Like how long would it take to get it put in. How much to fill up the bottle also? and finally, would it be stupid to run nos with stock exaust?

it depends on the kit, but the average install i believe should take about 4 hours to do if you have all the proper tools. I've seen some shops only charge 20 dollars to fill the 10lb bottle. No, a stock exhaust would be fine, but a 2 1/2in would be better.

Install time depends on what all you're installing...More components and accessories you're adding, more time you're adding. It took me about 12 hours to do my previous n2o install...Bottle refill depends on the station...The place I went to was 3.37 per pound...so about $35 for a full fill. You can run nitrous with the stock manifold and exhaust, but you'll see a bigger gain with an aftermarket exhaust system.

I noticed the zex kit says you can sit with the system armed, and once you hit full throttle itll go. So that means when i race ill be spraying through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and fourth gear? It the NOS kit like that?
