Re: Hot Rod U and Super Street program

In my senior year the UTI "recuiters" came here to talk about it and gave out interesting brochures. In fact they do that every year; I'm not too sure on your situation but I'm sure theres a site which tells about all the programs and how to enroll.

good luck

Re: Hot Rod U and Super Street program

Just go to UTI.com and request info. They give you a book that explains all the courses.

yea but where? UTI and Wyotech are alot bigger schools too.......so that would greatly affect. Just there general programs, i hear, are good enough to get you to know what your doing as being able to take apart an engine and rebuild it etc. Then there are graduate programs that you can further study into. Atleast thats how i understood it.

Re: Hot Rod U and Super Street program

ive heard they have a decent diesal program, but a pretty bland automotive course. I looked into it, and decided i need a school that is more defined.

Re: Hot Rod U and Super Street program

Im actually going to school to be an automotive tech. and honestly after nearly completing my first year, i would honestly say dont go to a school. (thats if you already know alot about cars I.E have a mechanical ability)

i've been working on cars since i was about 12 yr old and everything on a car comes natural to me with very little instruction. Therefore my school is very boring and to "slow paced" for me. but thats me.

So in conclusion i would suggest anyone to just hang out at a local speed shop, and become friends with them, eventually they'll either A) hire you, or B) teach you. either way you learn. and you'll learn that way alot more, as your actually having fun doing it.

after this semister im actually thinking about dropping and going to work for a custom shop thats down the street from me, they build compitition rock crawlers from the ground up. VERY smart guys, and thats the type of thing i personally want to learn is fabricating, which most schools DO NOT teach you. which im sure is what 50% of people that go to auto schools go to do.

let me tell you, you wont learn it there...

Re: Hot Rod U and Super Street program

I wouldn't say that UTI is bad. As long as you're good at what you're doing, you can go far with it. My brother-in-law just graduated in August of '08 and he's currently in Italy working for Ferrari. He's 20.

Just because a placement rate is lower, doesn't mean it's a bad school.
