New Here, Questions!

Hi
I am new to the forum. I joined because I am buying my cousins 1991 Toyota Pickup for 1000 dollars. The truck has 167000 miles on it and is in great shape. It has just recently had a new exhaust, suspension, and tires put on it. The car is in great shape and I am wondering if it is a good deal.

I also have some questions about the rank under your name. AF Newbie. Does that go up depending on how many posts you have or can you change that yourself.

Re: New Here, Questions!

Yes the rank will go up with the number of posts you make, but don't put any value into that number. It is the quality of the posts, not the number of posts made. Sounds like you got a good deal. Ask your cousin for a maintenance history so you can be prepared for any upcoming repairs. Start at the front bumper and work your way to the rear making sure everything works and is in good order. Some things to check are compression, brakes, u-joints, belts, etc. Fix things as they break or wear out and you shouldn't have any major trouble for years.

$1K for a 91 is a good deal, especially if in as good shape as you imply.

Check all the fluids and drain/replace if you can't verify the last time they were changed:

engine, transmission, t-case, both diffs, coolant, brake fluid, even PS fluid.

also gas & air filters

Re: New Here, Questions!

Hey thanks guys for all the information. I really appreciate it. I will make good quality posts... The only reason that I ask is because I have never been on an automotive forum that has ranks before and I think that is cool...
