Re: Need more power off the line

Just some basic ideas-

Is it an automatic or a manual?
If it is a manual, there are a few threads over in racing about proper launching.

Did the 318 come with traction control?
If so, turn it off. In an attempt to prevent tire spin it slows you down.

Re: Need more power off the line

There sould be a button (if equipped w/ traction control) that will say "TCS". I'm not 100% positive, otherwise its somthing similar. Turn it off and when you launch, the yellow traction light will light up if/when you have wheelspin. If the TCS system is on, then you will have much less spin, obvioulsy.

Performance thought can be increased off the line with somthing as simple as a DINAN chip or even a cheaper performance chip.

Re: Need more power off the line

You'll probably feel a little bit of a difference, but still not 325i speed.

As a 318ti owner, you should probably do yourself a favor and go to Barnes and Noble and buy this month's issue of Eurotuner magazine. The car on the cover is a heavily modded Dakar Yellow 318ti. If nothing else, it will give you some hope and inspiration.
