Re: muscle forum dont like to respond

well, '86s didn't get big-block like 1st gens, and $5,000 will get you a 454, but nothing more.

that's 425bhp and 500lb/ft. whereas you could take you small block, do some head work/cam/intake/exhaust/possibly blown and make maybe 500bhp.

depends on parts.

Re: muscle forum dont like to respond

just don't expect your $5,000 to go as far as you might think.

accounting for the engine/parts/exhaust/fabrication/tools/etc you won't see it go a long way.

it'll get you past the 400 horsepower mark, it'll disappear very quickly.

Re: muscle forum dont like to respond

it'll be cheaper to get 400 horses from the small-block already in the 'Maro.

a big-block is only "neccessary" if you want to get into the 800 upwards range without serious forced induction.

use the 350 in the Camaro, exhaust/headers/cam/port & polish/carb/intake/blower will porbably get you 500 horses and if you do most of the work yourself it'll run you less that $6,000. well, as far as i can guess.

Re: muscle forum dont like to respond

go to the F-body forums (chevy-camaro/firebird)

those guys know their f-bodies insdie-out, and i'm sure they're better with costs and reccomended parts than i am.

i frequent that forum, and they're a helpful bunch.
