What's the best clutch configuration

I don't know a whole lot about cars. I learn about stuff as they need to be fixed. Anyways I basically want to know what the best clutch configuration would be if I am trying to get the fastest exeleration out of my car. Before I had my car worked on it was tight and I could tell exactly where it dissengaged. Now it moves more freely and I can more quickly dissengage and reengage the clutch, but it is so loose that it is hard to feel exactly where it is going to disengage. So what is considered the best way to have the clutch configured in order to get the fastest exeleration out of a car?

Thanks

Re: What's the best clutch configuration

Keep in mind that a clutch doesn't improve performance, or your acceleration. All it does is helps you switch gears. The faster you are able to push it in, switch gears, and let off, the faster you will accelerate. The clutch isn't as important as the driver using it. A tigher clutch usually is more responsive, and therefore easier to use for racing purposes. Put it too tight and you you'll run into unnessessary clutch wear and you might find it difficult to switch gears. Too loose and its just flat out a pain to use.
Hope that helps.
