95 Camry Warm Stall

I've searched the site and found similar problems with solutions; however, mechanic states that all check out (EGR, Temp. sensor, etc)

Problem:
Driving to work and car stalls about 15 minutes into the trip. I get it started immediately, travel another mile then it quits for good.

Mechanic changes plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and coil, tests drives successfully then calls me telling me its fixed.

I pick up the car and head to work again and notice the car wanting to die at idle speed a few minutes into my drive. It stalls several times but starts back up and drives fine as long as the accelerator is depressed. I took it back to the shop and the mechanic has had it for 2 days and can't pinpoint the problem. Supposedly has cleaned the EGR and checked temp sensor, air intake sensors, etc.

Any other ideas?

Thank you

It could be your IAC Valve (idle air control valve) that needs to be cleaned and lubricated. the IAC Valve is what helps keeps the car idling smoothly. when it is dirty and gummed up it has a very difficult time doing it's job. another name for this part is a ISC Valve (idle speed control valve)

Ignition coil solved my problem

after many hours of frustration and checking sensors, replacing the ignition coil seems to have fixed the problem.

OK. Now I am confused. Didn't you say in your first post the mechanic changed the coil?

Re: 95 Camry Warm Stall

I was mistaken Mike...sorry to confuse. The mechanic replaced the plugs, plug wires, and distributor cap. I recall him mentioning the coil but he definately did not replace it initially as the 'tune up' seemed to do the trick originally.

Not a problem. Glad your problem is fixed.
