2002 Automatic Trans....

I've been having a hard time trying to find a new transmission for my 2002 zx2 it's an automatic and only has 55k on as sits now. My question is which years are compatible with it and is there anything specific I need to be looking for... I have found a transmission on ebay with 40k on it he just has it listed as a 2000 escort transmission. He said it came out of a two door escort but he's not sure if it was a ZX2 or not. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: 2002 Automatic Trans....

The only 2 door Escorts '98 and up was the Zx2. Likewise, any trans will fit '98 - '03, reguardless of what Escort trim. A transmission off the tracer will work too. (The transmission is the same for the 2.0L SPI and DOHC) FYI - the Ford number is F4E-III for the auto transmission if you want to be sure.

Thanks so much for your help! I'm not too informed on the car and my roommate rebuilds Rx7's so I appreciate it!

Depends on how much sweetheart, I've been put through the ringer with all the people locally being quoted as much as 3500 just to rebuild not even to install (which I have someone who is going to do the install) And Honestly I've just been told that It was the transmission not even sure if that's exactly what the problem was. I was driving it just fine (I just bought it last may) And then in November it started to slip, and it was hesitating hard from 2-3rd. My roomate (who builds rx7's) changed the transfilter and all the fluids and now the car doesn't move lol. It runs nicely but that's if I'm looking to leave it parked in the driveway. So I had someone come look at it from a local place called American Auto Craft and the guy told me that it was the transmission (I just saw him crawl under it not actually do anything) and that it'd be 2700 to have it rebuilt. So I guess I'm inbetween a rock and a hard place. So I've been looking for another transmission but they're not so easy to come by...
