Is there a chance we may see McLaren F1's on track this year

Hi there,

Stephane Ratel the owner of the FIA GT series has announced a new two event race series for 2007. It is called the GT '90s revival series and will be held at Silverstone, UK in May 2007 and Nogaro, France in September. The races are designed specifically for the BPR and GT cars that raced in the 1990's.

There will apparently be three classes with an expected grid of 25-30 cars. Each race will last 45 minutes with a mandatory pit stop.
The three classes will be :-
GT1: Cars from BPR GT1, ACO GT1, and FIA GT1
GT2: Cars from BPR GT2, ACO GT2, and FIA GT2
GT3: Cars from single make series like the Porsche cup, Ferrari Challenge and Venturi Trophy.

Does this mean we may get to see McLaren F1's back on the track racing ??

There is also talk of a McLaren F1 for sale. A member of the ten tenths forum says that he was told at the Autosport Show that the EMKA car is for sale, he says that Rowan Atkinson currently owns it. However another poster states that the car was sold last month.

I am already booked to attend the Silverstone FIA GT weekend which will feature this new event, hope this series goes ahead would love to see a McLaren F1 out on track.

Anyone shed any light on any of this ??

Regards

Tim

well...the DBR9 is nice, but I don't like the Mosler, nor any of the other cars, and the Maserati always wins anyway

Damn ! Maybe can you ask on the silver road car supposed to sell please ? You have the credibility to do it and know details like the chassis number for example

Thank you very much !

This weeks Autosport seems to confirm that the EMKA car has indeed changed hands and even gives the name of the new owner.
