First Time Honda Owner

Recently Purchased a 2000 Honda Civic EX
its got 72,000 miles on it. and its bone stock.
bought from a gal who was the first owner, got all the maintenence done at local honda dealer, so its in great condition.
Im looking to make it look a little bit better.
im putting a new deck and a sub and an amp.
Anything i can should do to the car?
tips or tricks for styling?
also i want to remove the Honda badges, is it a difficult process?

Re: First Time Honda Owner

I don't know what kind of area you live in but the first thing I would put on it is an alarm and some other kind of anti-theft device. My last car (and also my 1st Honda) was a stock 95 Civic and I loved it because it was really clean, low mile, and well maintained. Unfortunately, it didn't last in my posession. Aside from that, if your just looking for cosmetics just give it some nice wheels and maybe a different grill since u want to remove the emblems. I did that to my new one and changed the headlights and it looks great.

Re: First Time Honda Owner

the car came with an alarm and a triad system. its this little keychain on your keys that must be near the ignition to start the vehicle, its pretty sweet.
It has a set of the SI rims on it, and i think they look really sweet. ive been trying to look for pictures of different grills, and it looks like some people just take theirs out and it looks pretty good. is this hard to do?

True: you are hooked for life. about the grill, I think the grill you might be talking about might be the JDM style grill... here's a link to a picture I found on the net... http://www.streetracinglife.com/ebay...99TRGRILL2.jpg is that the kind you're talking about? you can get something close on ebay pretty cheap or a real one will cost you a pretty penny.

Re: First Time Honda Owner

Remember that maintenance takes priority over pimpage! I’m sure that you’ve been around these forums long enough to know that.

Is it an automatic or manual? If it’s automatic, find out when was the last time the transmission fluid was replaced. If you can’t determine how old the transmission fluid is get a transmission flush from the dealership.

Lastly, you’ll need a timing belt replacement in about a year or 2. I think the scheduled maintenance is 90,000Mi or something like that.

Good luck with your new ride!

Re: First Time Honda Owner

Yeah thats the grill style i really like. the car is a manual, and i know that maintence comes before aftermarket parts. my last car was a mitsubishi eclipse and i blew all my money on that, ended up getting a bad rod knock that blew the engine when i sold it. i dont really care about performance, im just looking to make the car look a bit better. i got a stereo system set up, i want to change the grill, and i want to lower it, but thats about it.

Re: First Time Honda Owner

the most interesting thing about hondas that i can say is, think lego if you see a part on another honda especially another civic that you would like on yours there is prolly someone out there who has put it in a car like yours, the possibiities are endless but it almost sounds like you have all the parts you want but always keep your eyes open.
