4WD problem

hello. I have a 99 s10 blazer 4.3 vortec. and when I put it into 4 wheel high or low, and then procede to drive it, it has a vibration, sort of a rumble, and quite the loss of power. I removed the front driveshaft and, it goes away.. the driveshaft checks out ok, some think it's the differential carrier in the front.. $700 plus.. anyone else suffer from this?

Re: 4WD problem

3 button (part time np233) or 4 button (236 Autotrac)?
The 3 button driveshaft should be free in 2wd while the 4 button is always engaged (but can be turned hard due to clutches in case). Let us know and anymore info.

Re: 4WD problem

Check the diff gear oil, the CV axles, and also the transfer case fluid. Check the 4wd functions and parts also such as the vac lines and 3 port switch, that the front actuator engages completely or you get a grinding.

Re: 4WD problem

I think you should have th U-Joints checked for the front drivehsaft checked. My 97 Jimmy did this in 2WD. At highway speed I could feel vibrations and rumble when slowing down.
